CH07 Shell Chair | Carl Hansen & Søn

The CH07 Shell Chair was created in 1963, but the design was ahead of its time and therefore has patiently waited for the spotlight for a number of decades. Today, it is considered one of Hans J. Wegner’s most iconic and groundbreaking designs.

The design’s floating lightness is achieved through its wing-like seat and curved backrest held by a frame with three arched legs. The chair’s signature seat and backrest are created from upholstered form-pressed veneer, cradling the user in generous comfort. The chair’s laminated legs are made of several layers of veneer, and the two front legs are made from a single element, resulting in a unique and stable form. The Shell Chair is a clear manifestation of Wegner’s belief that a chair should always be comfortable and beautiful from all sides and angles.

The KK47000 Safari Chair is an iconic example of Kaare Klint’s design ideology. Klint effortlessly transformed an historical archetype into a modern, collapsible chair. His considered design is a hallmark of sophistication and pure craftsmanship for contemporary interiors.

The KK47000 Safari Chair is a refinement of the chairs brought on an African safari by an American cinematographer and his wife. Klint noticed the chairs in the couple’s photos. They were most likely based on Indian Roorkhee Chairs used by the British military – possibly the first examples of self-assembled furniture.

The original featured glueless joints, tool-free assembly, and an intelligent construction that caused the joints to tighten when the chair was occupied, enhancing strength and stability.

Klint focused on simplifying, clarifying and refining the lounge chair’s composition, exhibiting his final Safari Chair design in 1933 at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition.

While inspired by its British predecessor, Klint’s sophisticated, lightweight chair is defined by his signature systematic approach, fine craftsmanship, well-conceived proportions, and remarkable material effects.

Vilhelm Theodor Lauritzen was one of Denmark’s most influential architects and a father of Danish Modernism. Over the course of his career, he created everything from door handles, ashtrays, and railings to lamps, sofas, and chairs.

The Foyer Series was exclusively created by Lauritzen for Radiohuset in Copenhagen in 1945.

The Foyer Chair is characterized by a unique interplay between oak wood and upholstery, and the armrests are hand-polished with the utmost care to avoid the appearance of noticeable transitions.

The CH22 lounge chair was part of Hans J. Wegner’s debut collection for Carl Hansen & Son. Crafted from wood with seats in paper cord instead of upholstery, the chairs are among the designer’s most well-known and sought-after creations today.

Historically, teak was commonly used to make some of the first Hans J. Wegner mix chairs in the 1950-1960s. Teak wood is characterized by its high strength and stability, and its color has a lively appearance with dark stripes that follow the growth rings.

Ceto Recliner Armchair | Berg

A light push on the armrests when seated, and the footrest automatically lifts up and extends by 15 cm. This unique function provides full support under the legs and calves.

When activating the mechanism hidden under the right armrest, the backrest slides backwards and downwards and relieves the pressure on both back and lumbar region.

The backrest is lockable in any position and the headrest can be adjusted separately. The seat and back have foam padding for optimum support and pressure relief.

For further comfort, the back cushion is channelled and as a special feature, filled with the finest down to give the user an experience out of the ordinary.

The ring on the base of the Ceto recliner is available in your choice of 10 different timbers or in matt/shiny chrome.
