The rug VK-8 is from the late 1970s and was shown for the first time at Vibeke Klint’s separate exhibition at “Den Permanente” in Copenhagen in 1982.
In close collaboration with the Klint family, NORDICMODERN has recently set VK-8 into production as part of their collection of selected original Vibeke Klint rugs.
For Vibeke Klint, her work on the loom most often began with a drawing or a watercolor. It was her favorite starting point.
The VK-8 rug is one of Vibeke Klint’s most complicated and demanding designs, which can only be made by the absolute most skilled and professional weavers.
As Ole Paustian, founder of Paustian furniture store, said when he saw the rug: “That’s genuine art on the floor. No furniture should ever be placed on it!”
The VK-8 rug is woven in the “El Grecco” pattern, where the background is kept in white, slate black and orange fields. A pattern reminiscent of the Greek bent pattern or “running dog” in the colors black, light olive and pink runs throughout the rug and seems to change color, depending on whether they are seen on a white, slate black or orange background.
VK-8 is available in 3 different sizes and 3 different colourways.
