Wally | Spring Copenhagen

Designed by Chresten Sommer, Wally is most easily recognisable by his tusks. Previously hunted for their tusks, many Walruses have now disappeared worldwide. Fortunately, much is being done today to protect the walrus population, but it is still a vulnerable species.

Chresten Sommer’s edition of the walrus pays loving tribute to this distinctive animal, which shows that the tusks – here made of maple – are at their most beautiful when still attached to the animal.

With a few, well-chosen details, Sommer has given Wally a charming and lifelike expression. He’s even got the characteristic folds on his back.
